Oh brother, let's go out and serve it right up

ANY hint of sibling rivalry will take a backseat for Jarryd and Trent Wilson when they join forces for Werribee Tennis Club in the semi-final showdown against Albion in the Western Region Tennis Association on Saturday.

In what promises to be a tense encounter, the brothers will look to upset their highy-fancied opposition on their homecourt and clinch a berth in the section 4 pennant grand final.

The Wilson brothers finished the regular season in third spot, but a closely-fought competition means all top four teams can stake a genuine claim for title favouritism.

"It's been neck-and-neck all season, it's going to depend on who is in form on the day really," Jarryd Wilson said.

"This week will be a tough match on their home turf, and it's always been a fiery encounter against the Albion

guys." The chance of the odd verbal stoush will make the semi-final even more interesting according to Wilson, but he's glad most of the niggle will be directed over the other side of the net and not at brother Trent.

"We get on fine," Jarryd said.

"It can be a bit strained when one is up and one is down during a match, but that kind of pressure from your brother can sometimes help with performance on the court." Wilson describes himself as stress-free in the heat of competition and points at a long apprenticeship at senior level for his calm demeanor under finals pressure.

Werribee can also take comfort in a victory over Albion last time out, a satisfying win for the pair considering they dropped the first encounter early in the season due, in some part, to a lack of preparation.

"We've finished off the season really well, but we dropped a few games at the start because we probably weren't as

fit as we could have been," Jarryd said.

With fitness and form taken care of, the big challenge for the Wilsons will be to deal with the unfamilar mod-grass surface at Albion.
