WERRIBEE Giants continued their winning streak with two tough games against Port Melbourne and Williamstown in Baseball Victoria's division 2 competition.
Clearly sitting on top of the ladder, having only lost one match for the season, the Giants' good form continued in their midweek clash against Port Melbourne, which they won 13-2.
"We were in control pretty much from the start," stand-in coach Phil Balzer said. "It was at a steady pace for most of the match until our final two innings where we scored six runs."
In a game dominated by the pitchers, the Giants were finally able to score off Port Melbourne's American Import.
"Our pitcher John Curnow continued his good form pitching and was our best player for the game," Balzer said.
"Mike Baillargeon was our best with the bat, getting a few hits as well."
Going into their second match against the fourth-placed Williamstown, both Balzer and normal coach Earl Byrne were worried.
"It was an important game for us as Williamstown is one of the teams fighting us for the premiership," Balzer said.
"They play a different style of game to most other clubs, and are able to come back from huge deficits to win matches."
The Giants need not have worried, as they recorded a 9-1 win against Williamstown.
Werribee's next match is against Waverley Wildcats at Waverley on February 28 at 3.30pm.
