Thief grabs more than a bite

24 Jun, 2009 11:59 AM
POLICE are looking for a thief with a carnivorous appetite after a vehicle containing various meats was stolen in Laverton North earlier this month.

A large white prime mover was stolen from a transport yard in the early hours of June 9. The vehicle was attached to a white aluminium trailer, which contained $65,000 worth of Hans cold meats, including bacon, sausages, sliced chicken and ham.

The truck was driven to McPhersons Road in Little River and dumped.

Detective Senior Constable Frank Fierro from Werribee's crime investigation unit said the meat was then removed from the trailer.

"We believe that it was at this location or in the near vicinity that the meat goods were unloaded and taken away," he said.

Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
