Janet Todd is on song

14 Oct, 2009 09:36 AM
PREPARATION, passion and persistence has paid off for Janet Todd, 20, a finalist in the prestigious Herald Sun Aria Awards for classical music.

She grew up in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing and started playing a mini violin at the age of two.

Todd said it was hard to believe she was one of six competing for $60,000 in cash prizes and scholarships.

"I'm still coming to terms with it. It was one of those competitions I always went to when I was younger and hoped to be there one day."

The former Westbourne Grammar student, who is in her third year at the Victorian College of the Arts, said she felt honoured.

"I'm feeling a little anxious, but I've been preparing a lot and instead of worrying about it I'm just working really hard for it."

The awards will take place at The Arts Centre in Melbourne from 7pm on Tuesday, October 28. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
